This modular online training programme offered in collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, a leading Swedish university, and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Chinais back in Spring 2024!

This is the third year that we have offered this exclusive training program. What's New in 2024? We are excited toextend our Three modules to Four modules without any increased fee. The fourth module will introduce an interesting topic of "What generative AI can do for your organization." This section is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and leverage the potential of AI in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape.

  • How can executives and managers of Swedish subsidiaries in China adopt some of the cornerstones of Swedish managerial best practices?
  • How can you develop your abilities to better manage problem ownership, your ability to find new creative solutions and drive change to implement them?
  • How can AI transform businesses, industries, and society as a whole.

We aim at rapidly providing executives and managers with new insights and new tools within the four well-defined domains:

April 10 : Creativity & innovation management by Senior Lecturer Leif Denti, PhD

April 17:Change management by Assistant Professor Jonas Fasth, PhD

April 24 : Leadership for sustainable strategy and supply chains by Professor Niklas Egels Zandén, PhD

April 26 : What generative AI can do for your organization by Professor Miroslaw Staron, PhD (New in 2024)

The programme comprises four separate two-hour synchronous online modules, one for each of the domains above. Each module will be delivered by a leading researcher and lecturer from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. For each module, there will be pre-study materials (articles, video clips) to be read and viewed in the week leading up to the module. After finishing all the FOUR modules, attendants will receive a CERTIFICATE LETTER issued by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China and the University of Gothenburg.

Hear what they say:

"As advisor or board member of several Nordic enterprises in China, strategic thinking, leadership and methodology of implementation have always been the core elements of China landing and China operation. I appreciate Gothenburg University courses bring me more theoretical knowledge and practical experience from these aspects." by Michael Zhang, DSD

"I'm so glad to have this course during the lockdown period, it adds on some color in the dark days. The first module is about how to manage creativity, as a designer and product development manager, it perfectly combines the two focused areas I concentrate on in my daily work and brings many inspiring ideas. In the second module, the most valuable takeaway for me is the circle of learning, which teaches me to let things happen and let learning be free. In the third module, the most memorable thing is the sustainability triangle on an overall level. And we need to have the mindset that the detailed level "sustainable concepts" are inconsistently defined and constantly changing. Overall, the three-module course is well organized and each topic is well linked to another. It helps me to build up an "ever-changing" mindset to learn more constantly. " by Vivian Hu, Clas Ohlson

About the Professors and Four Modules

Professor Niklas Egels Zandén, PhD: Leadership for sustainable strategy and supply chains

Managers and scholars agree that integrating sustainability into the business strategy of the firm is central in solving global social and environmental challenges. However, does integrating sustainability make sense from a corporate perspective? During this module, we will discuss the notion of sustainability in relation to business reality. We will illustrate with corporate examples and leading international research how firms can work to integrate sustainability into strategy and supply chains.

Professor Niklas Egels Zandén is Head of the Management & Organisation section and Director of Centre for Business in Society at the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg. His research is on the integration of sustainability into business strategy and supply chains. He has published 25+ academic articles on these topics in international journals and regularly leads executive education sessions for managers on these topics.

Senior Lecturer Leif Denti, PhD: Creativity & innovation management

This module will explore the roots of creative thinking and how creativity can be managed in organizations in order to increase individuals' and teams' solution quality and problem solving abilities. The building blocks of creativity, as well as the individual, team and organizational processes involved will be investigated.

Leif Denti, PhD, is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology at the University of Gothenburg. His field is the psychology of innovation, and he has since 2009 devoted his research to examining organizational conditions and the role of leadership in enhancing creativity and innovation. He is one of Sweden's most sought after lecturers on creativity and innovation and as an expert advisor involved in innovation capability project both in the public and private sectors.

Assistant Professor Jonas Fasth, PhD: Change management

This module addresses the most challenging issues of change management; what balance between control and learning is desirable, and how can leaders act depending on the choice of that balance? Based on research on change management and the my own extensive experiences of change management, different perspectives and models on change are presented and compared. Common challenges in the Swedish context are described and concrete advice is given on how a change process can be prepared and managed.

Jonas Fasth, PhD, works as a researcher and teacher in business administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg and as a consultant with a focus on growth and strategic processes in companies. He also has experience from working with management teams and boards of directors to develop their working methods and competences in strategy and change management. With experience from both business and academia, he possesses a competence that is both theoretical and hands-on, and he is able to explain complicated theories and research in a concrete way that is easy to understand.

Professor Miroslaw Staron, PhD: What generative AI can do for your organization

ChatGPT has changed the way in which we think about artificial intelligence - from being a magical solution to all problems, understood only by nerds, to being a great help in almost all professions. The technology behind ChatGPT is, however, much more generic and can provide tangible benefits in terms of improved productivity, saving costs and creating new business models. Organizations which embrace this new development will evolve from good to fantastic, while the organizations which do not risk being set-aside and perish.

Miroslaw Staron, Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department at University of Gothenburg and Chalmers. Prof. Staron specializes in software quality, measurements, safety-critical systems and software architecture software engineering and has published over 200 articles and three books. His current research interests include applications of artificial intelligence in intensive care and software engineering. In this module, he will uncover how GPT models work and what we could use them for. I present two cases of using GPT in software development (automated program creation, integration into existing tools) and in creating new business models for non-software organizations.
