Stockholm Cantus

Stockholm Cantus

Stockholm Cantus, one of YMCA’s choirs in Stockholm, is a mixed choir with around 25 talented singers aged forty to sixtyfive. Since 2000, Stockholm Cantus is led by Eva Wedin. She is since 1980 singing in the Swedish Radio Choir and also freelances as soloist. She has studied music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and choir conducting for the famous Swedish choir conductor Eric Ericson.
She has also sung in the Eric Ericsson Chamber Choir.

Stockholm Cantus’ repertoire covers a wide field, ranging from sacred and traditional choir music to jazz, folk music and modern, contemporary music. Through the years, the choir has collaborated with renowned Swedish soloists and musicians. Stockholm Cantus are keen travelers and has given concerts in Copenhagen, Prague, Budapest, Seville, Dublin, Graz, Tallinn, Cambridge, Paris, Turku, Bucharest and Dubrovnik. The choir also regularly makes tours in Sweden. A typical choir year contains, in addition to a trip in Sweden or abroad, also a couple of concerts in Stockholm, usually a spring concert and a Christmas concert. Some concerts are co-productions with other choirs and orchestras. Recent examples of co-productions are Brahms Requiem, Frank Martin’s Mass for two choirs and Jenkins Requiem.
