We are happy to welcome back Peter Ling-Vannerus, SEB Beijing, for the first China Economic Outlook 2022. Summing up 2021 with a growth of 8,1 per cent and record high export figures, what lies ahead for the year of the Tiger?

There are clear signs of a slow down – how bad will that be? Is there a possibility of recoupling? What are the effects of last years' energy crisis and are struggling real estate companies like Evergrande having an impact on China's economic growth? What effect will continued closed borders due to COVID-19 have on China's domestic and international companies?

Last year we saw China's factories recovering at a fast speed as exports were growing at phenomenal rates and consumer demand recovered. Today, the world is still suffering from the pandemic. The goods and logistic industry is going through a never seen challenge with lack of containers with lead times and prices sky rocketing and consumers seem reluctant to spend and demand is sluggish.

What are the economic drivers for China today and what is the outlook for 2022?

Peter Ling-Vannerus, Chief Representative, SEB Beijing, will guide us through a macro economic update including structural changes, challenges and opportunities on the Chinese market awaiting Swedish companies.
