AI is no longer a side experiment. It's reshaping how we generate leads, qualify opportunities, prioritise pipeline, and make commercial decisions. What's easy to miss, however, is that China's pace and approach to AI looks fundamentally different from much of the rest of the world.
In China, AI is being deployed at speed - embedded into product development, digital go-to-market, and day-to-day commercial execution across both B2B and B2C. Feedback loops are shorter, experimentation moves faster, and adoption tends to scale across functions rather than remain stuck in isolated pilots. For Swedish businesses, the question isn't whether this will impact competitiveness - it's how quickly we respond.
On 23 April, Folke Engholm - a Swedish-born serial entrepreneur who has called Shenzhen home for the past twelve years - will unpack what AI-driven transformation looks like in practice, through the lens of what's often called "Chinese speed". As Founder and CEO of Viral Access, Folke brings 20+ years of China experience and an on-the-ground view of what makes China uniquely compelling in AI, how its ecosystem stands apart, and where he sees AI development heading next.

Folke Engholm is a Swedish-born entrepreneur and cross-border operator with 20+ years building businesses between China and the rest of the world. Based in Shenzhen, he has launched and scaled brands across Asia, including growing his own denim label d.brand into one of Sweden’s fastest-growing fashion brands and supporting Daniel Wellington’s rapid expansion in China and the region.
Folke is also the founder of Viral Access, where his team executed 250,000+ creator collaborations, helping brands scale through influence long before “creator economy” became a buzzword. Today, he is building Align, focused on the next shift: helping Chinese companies become global brands - and helping Western companies understand how to compete in a world shaped by China’s pace of innovation and execution.
He holds a Master’s in International Business from Bond University and studied his MBA at Tsinghua University.
