As Executive Vice President and Head of Great China & South East Asia, Martin Poxton is the leader of business across nine countries with over 6,700 employees. Being accountable for the strategies and operations across this diverse and complex region, and committed to green and sustainable business growth, Martin combines a value-driven leadership approach with a strong focus on strategy and performance.
Prior to this role, he spent 16 years with Adient (formerly known as Johnson Controls) in several key leadership positions including Operations Director and Business Unit General Manager. Through his years of experience, Martin learned that the key to great leadership is building strong teams and suiting the action to the word. This management philosophy has won him several career accomplishments covering plant start-up and launching, double-digit profit margins and, most importantly, helped his team members become outstanding managers in their industries.
Martin holds a higher national diploma in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom. He was born and raised in Great Wyrley in the UK and currently lives in Shanghai, China with his wife and son. Having lived and worked in diverse cultures, Martin is able to understand the cultural differences between China and the West and is willing to do his best to promote cultural and economic cooperation and exchange between China and the West. During his tenure as a board of the Shanghai Swedish Chamber of Commerce since 2022, he has supported the work of the Chamber in a practical way and contributed to the development of the SwedCham Shanghai and the Sino-Swedish business exchange.
Outside of work, Martin enjoys music, sports and spending time with his son. He is also actively involved in public welfare, paying back to the community, and passing on his love. Every year, he donates to the Shanghai Welfare Institute and has also taken the lead in promoting Opening Solutions Greater China & Southeast Asia's participation in public welfare activities.
