Midsummer has been celebrated for hundreds of years in Sweden and this festival is a vibrant tribute to nature, light, and community, we at SwedCham China are very excited to invite you to join our traditional celebration on 18 June 2026 in Shanghai at the Xijiao State Guest Hotel, Mei Gui Yuan Garden (上海西郊宾馆 玫瑰园).

The maypole, midsummer buffet and snaps is awaiting, so make sure to warm up your vocal cards and tune in for a night you will never forget...

More about the midsummer and the tradition:

While the traditions are centuries old, Midsummer is celebrated with great enthusiasm today. Most Swedes leave the cities to gather with family and friends at summer cottages in the countryside for singing, dancing, games, and good food. The celebration is famous for its joyful (and slightly whimsical) songs, most notably the "Little Frogs" dance.

Swedish Midsummer is a magical and distinctly Swedish tradition, blending ancient customs with modern joy. It's a time to slow down, gather with loved ones, and revel in the beauty of the natural world under the midnight sun.
