On the 19th of March, the Swedish Chamber welcomes you to join this Full Day Factory & Company Tour in Jiading district of Shanghai. During the morning session, all participants will be given an overview of aluminum production for heat exchangers, mainly for the automotive industry and listen to Colin Xu, President at Gränges Asia, about their story from behind the scenes of the Jiading plant. After presentation and tour of the plant, Gränges will invite us for a lunch in their canteen.
In the afternoon session, we will hop on the shuttle bus and transfer to Volvo Cars and their Asia Pacific Headquarters. The visiting group will be welcomed by Volvo Cars, a company with over 90 years of history, and gain unique insightswhen touring their 200,000 square meters large premises. The Jiading office houses mainly automotive design, R&D, procurement as well as administrative functions for Asia Pacific region.

About the factory:
Gränges is a supplier of rolled aluminium products for heat exchanger applications and other niche markets serving the automotive industry, the HVAC industry and others. Gränges develop, produce and market advanced materials that enhance efficiency in the customer manufacturing process and performance of the final products. Gränges has a leading global position in rolled products for brazed aluminium heat exchangers, which is partly served from the production plant in Shanghai which was established in 1996 and with an annual capacity of 120 ktonnes. In the manufacturing of rolled aluminium for brazed heat exchangers, there are several different process steps involved – from melting and casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing to the final slitting and packaging.

Michel Zhao joined Volvo Cars in January 2017 and was appointed Vice President of Corporate Communications at Volvo Car Asia Pacific. Her role oversees brand communications, stakeholder communications, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and internal communications, with the overarching goal to promote the Volvo Cars brand, strengthen the corporate image and create a favourable business environment for Volvo Car Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining the company, she was the Head of Communications Centre APAC for another Swedish company, SKF, a global leader in the bearings industry for more than 100 years. Her key responsibility was to coordinate communications within the Asia Pacific region.
Mrs Zhao has many years' experience in promoting Nordic culture and its brands in the Asia Pacific region, with a special focus on China.
