China-Sweden Conference on Sustainable Development and Industrial Cooperation & Forum on Industrial Net Zero Emission Transition aims to bring together government leaders, multinational corporations, research institutes and industry associations to promote dialogue, strengthen cross-border cooperation, and accelerate green, low-carbon and circular industrial transformation between Sweden and China. As a collaboration among the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, the Government of Qinhuai District of Nanjing and IVL, the conference is designed as a practical platform linking policy priorities with business solutions, industrial collaboration and sustainable business development. The event is scheduled for 16 June 2026 and will gather around 120 participants from both Swedish and Chinese companies.

Global industries are undergoing rapid transformation driven by an urgency to respond to climate change. Climate policy, carbon tariffs, digitalisation, industrial chain restructuring, green technologies and the growing global commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. For both Sweden and China, reaching net-zero emission is not only a necessity it is also a driver of innovation, productivity and long-term competitiveness.

Against this backdrop, life cycle thinking, is an important approach connecting policy requirements, industrial practice and international market rules, provides key support for companies to identify environmental impacts across the value chain, strengthen green competitiveness, and promote coordinated supply-chain decarbonisation. The International Action Initiative of Life Cycle Thinking (LCT), jointly initiated by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and partner organisations, further provides an open platform for cross-sector and cross-regional sustainable cooperation, knowledge exchange and practical implementation.

The conference will further focus on matchmaking and implementation. Through high-level dialogue, business exchanges and workshops the conference aims to move cooperation from conceptual exchange to concrete practice.

I. Overview

Organisers: The CSR Centre of the Embassy of Sweden in China; IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute; Nanjing Qinhuai District

Co-organisers: International Action Initiative of Life Cycle Thinking (LCT); International EPD System.

II. Conference Themes

Sustainable Industrial Transformation under Policy and Market Drivers

How are sustainability policies, including China's 15th Five-Year Plan and relevant international frameworks, shaping industrial transformation? The session will focus on how Chinese and Swedish stakeholders can respond to policy signals, strengthen industrial cooperation, and identify practical pathways for low-carbon and sustainable development.

Value-chain Decarbonisation through Practical Tools and Solutions

Explore how industries can reduce environmental and carbon impacts across value chains and support the transition towards net-zero emissions through practical approaches such as carbon footprint management, circular solutions, green materials, LCA, EPD and digital tools. The discussion will emphasise applicable solutions, cooperation models and implementation opportunities between China and Sweden.

How to reach the dual carbon goals? China – Sweden Climate Matchmaking Platform

Explore how Chinese and Swedish companies can work together to advance China's dual carbon goals. Building on Sweden's long-term experience of maintaining growth and safeguarding welfare, where emission peaked as early as 1976, the platform will highlight how Swedish enterprises, innovation and know-how can support the green transition in China.
