I. Background

世界循环经济论坛（World Circular Economy Forum，WCEF）是全球循环经济领域的重要国际交流平台，汇聚政府、国际组织、研究机构、行业协会和企业代表，共同推动循环经济政策、方法与产业实践的交流合作。IVL中国拟于2026年9月2日举办的"生命周期思维与循环价值链：从全球趋势到产业行动"作为WCEF边会，将以生命周期思维为核心，连接全球趋势与产业行动，促进循环价值链建设与国际合作。

The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) is an important international platform for dialogue and collaboration on the circular economy, bringing together representatives from governments, international organisations, research institutions, industry associations and businesses. IVL China's event, "Life Cycle Thinking and Circular Value Chains: From Global Trends to Industrial Action", a side event of WCEF to be held on 2 September 2026, will place life cycle thinking at the centre of the discussion, connecting global trends with industrial action and advancing circular value chains and international cooperation.

生命周期思维从材料、产品和服务的全生命周期出发，系统识别资源消耗、环境影响及价值链各环节之间的关联，为循环经济从理念走向可量化、可比较、可落地的产业行动提供方法支撑。在全球气候行动、资源效率提升和供应链绿色转型加速推进的背景下，如何以生命周期评价、环境信息披露和跨产业协同为基础，构建可信、透明、具有韧性的循环与低碳价值链，已成为政府、产业和研究机构共同关注的重要议题。

Life cycle thinking considers the full life cycle of materials, products and services, systematically identifying resource use, environmental impacts and interdependencies across the value chain. It provides a methodological foundation for translating the circular economy from a broad concept into measurable, comparable and implementable industrial action. As climate action, resource efficiency and green supply-chain transformation accelerate worldwide, governments, industries and research institutions are increasingly focused on how life cycle assessment, transparent environmental information and cross-sector collaboration can support credible, transparent and resilient circular and low-carbon value chains.

本次活动将以线上线下融合会议形式开展，围绕全球可持续发展与循环经济趋势、基础材料行业低碳与循环价值链建设，以及交通产业链协同转型三大方向展开交流。来自国际组织、研究机构、行业协会和企业的专家代表将共同探讨钢铁、铝等基础材料行业如何提高环境信息透明度、促进资源循环利用并建立可信的低碳价值链，以及汽车、轨道交通、电池等领域如何在生命周期思维框架下加强产业链协同、推动循环设计和绿色创新、提升全球竞争力。

The event will be held as a hybrid conference and will focus on three areas: global sustainability and circular-economy trends; the development of low-carbon and circular value chains in basic materials industry; and collaborative transformation across the transport industrial chain. Experts from international organisations, research institutions, industry associations and businesses will discuss how basic-material sectors such as steel and aluminium can improve the transparency of environmental information, promote resource circulation and build credible low-carbon value chains, as well as how automotive, rail transit, battery and related sectors can strengthen value-chain collaboration, circular design and green innovation under a life cycle thinking framework.

作为本次WCEF边会的主办方，IVL将依托其在环境科学、生命周期评价、环境产品声明、循环经济、绿色供应链和国际可持续发展合作等领域的长期积累，搭建跨区域、跨行业、产学研协同的对话平台。2026年适逢IVL成立60周年及IVL在华开展工作40周年，本次活动也将以此为契机，在回顾长期实践经验的同时，更加聚焦生命周期思维如何支持循环经济转型，并推动专业共识转化为产业合作与行动。

As the organiser of this WCEF side event, IVL China will draw on its long-standing experience in environmental science, life cycle assessment, environmental product declarations, circular economy, green supply chains and international sustainability cooperation to create a cross-regional, cross-sector dialogue platform linking research, industry and practice. The year 2026 also marks IVL's 60th anniversary and 40 years of engagement in China. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on accumulated experience while placing greater emphasis on how life cycle thinking can support the circular-economy transition and turn professional consensus into industrial cooperation and action.
