"IPR protection has been a big problem in the Chinese market for many years, and honestly the situation has been getting better. But we are still suffering from this kind of damage to our business" , one of the quotes is highlithed from the newly released report of Business Climate Survey for Swedish Companies in Mainland China 2023 by Team Sweden.

Innovation is the key to SMEs' business success in China providing companies with a comparative advantage over competitors and allowing them to become market leaders in their sector. It is therefore essential to have a comprehensive IP protection and management strategy in place to safeguard the latest cutting-edge technology or manufacturing processes. Designing the appropriate IP strategy, however, may sound complex to many SMEs. Which type of patent should I apply for? How to protect unpatentable technology? What about the technology created in China?

To answer these questions, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Chinaand the China IP SME Helpdesk

jointly organise a hybrid seminar on how to protect innovations in China, focusing on the recent legal updates.

What you can hear from this hybrid seminar?

During this seminar, the China IP SME Helpdesk IP Business Advisor will explain the different types of patents in China and discusses common IP protection strategies such as the parallel filing of an invention patent and a utility model patent. The IP Business Advisor will provide an overview of recent legal changes and discuss the registration of inventions created in China considering the 14th Five Year Plan on IP. The seminar will end with a Q&A session where attendees can raise their questions and interact with the presenter.
