About the SCC:
Established in 1917, the SCC Arbitration Institute (SCC) is one of the world's leading dispute resolution institutions. The SCC administers 150-200 cases per year as an independent entity within the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. Each year, parties from around 45 different countries choose the SCC for the resolution of their disputes.
In 1984, the SCC and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) entered into a cooperation agreement. Since then, Chinese companies have consistently chosen to resolve their international commercial disputes at the SCC.
In 2024, the SCC and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) renewed their cooperation agreement at the China Arbitration Summit 2024 in Beijing. Attended by over 5 million participants, the event clearly demonstrates the continued relevance and importance of this ongoing partnership.

Secretary General at SCC Arbitration Institute
Caroline Falconer is the Secretary General of the SCC Arbitration Institute. She holds a Swedish LL.M. from Stockholm University and an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution from King's College, London. Caroline has over 10 years of experience in Swedish law firms, specializing in dispute resolution, and has also served at the Stockholm District Court. From 2015 to 2022, she worked as Senior Legal Counsel at a leading European energy company, where she gained deep insights into the daily challenges faced by in-house legal teams. Caroline is a co-founder of SWAN (Swedish Women in Arbitration Network), a professional network dedicated to women in arbitration. She has also chaired the board of the Swedish Company Lawyers Association and serves on the jury for the prestigious “Company Lawyer of the Year” award in Sweden. Additionally, Caroline is a council member of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI) and a board member of the International Law Association, Sweden. She is a frequent speaker at both domestic and international legal events.
Jake Lowther
Specialist Counsel at SCC Arbitration Institute
Jake Lowther is a dual-qualified lawyer (Australia & Sweden) working as Specialist Counsel at the SCC Arbitration Institute. He is an experienced international arbitration practitioner, having worked in various roles in Australia, Germany, Korea, and Sweden. Prior to joining the SCC, Jake was an associate in the dispute resolution team of a prominent Nordic-Baltic law firm.
Jake is frequently invited to speak at events on arbitration related issues. He is a Visiting Professor of the School of Law at the University of Puerto Rico and has been invited to speak on a range of topics related to international arbitration. Jake has also contributed articles to several publications.
He is committed to the promotion and development of the practice of arbitration to ensure its position as an attractive method of alternative dispute resolution.
