Together with the Swedish Club we are pleased to invite you to an evening with Birgitta Lindqvist. Join us and listen to her experiences in translating Chinese poetry.
Birgitta Lindqvist is an author and translator, currently living in Paris after many years of living in China. She has recently translated 35 poems by young Chinese poet Yu Xiuhua (余秀华) from Mandarin to Swedish. The book of the compiled poems is called "Leva trots allt" and was released by Ellerströms Förlag in Sweden last December. It received lots of attention, due to the incredible life of disabled Yu Xiuhua in a small Hubei village. Today Yu Xiuhua's works are very popular in China, and Lindqvist have now brought the poems to Sweden as well.
Birgitta will also share her experiences from her time in Beijing during the Cultural Revolution 1969-1971 and tell us about interesting meetings with among others Chou En Lai.
The book "Leva trots allt" will also be available for purchase at the event for 80 RMB.
Join us on May 10th and listen to Lindqvist's talk on her translation works, and her experiences as an author and translator in China.
