The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China is excited to invite you to a special afterwork evening of cultural exchange - celebrating both Swedish tradition and the upcoming Chinese new year!

On 11 February 2026, we gather at Electrolux's China Headquarters in Shanghai for a creative and social session where we dive into the art of making Semla - the iconic Swedish pastry traditionally enjoyed on Fettisdagen (or all through February for the fika-lovers). Guiding us through the process are none other than the founders of Swedish Café & Restaurant SMAKA, who will share both techniques and stories behind this much-loved treat.

This year, Fettisdagen aligns with Chinese New Year, giving the evening an extra layer of celebration. Alongside Swedish fika culture, we will welcome the Year of the Horse, creating a unique blend of Swedish and Chinese traditions - all in a relaxed, afterwork setting.

Expect a hands-on baking experience, good coffee, drinks, and plenty of opportunities for meaningful conversations. The evening we will get a chance to explore Electrolux's latest kitchen innovations in an inspiring setting.

Organised in collaboration with the Shanghai Sweden Alumni Association, this event is open to anyone curious about Swedish traditions - whether you deeply miss a proper semla or are excited to try one for the very first time.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend the event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than three (3) business days prior to the event. If you fail to notify us of your cancellation in a timely fashion , you will be charged for the event costs.

Fapiao (VAT Invoice)

Ask your IT to whitelist the domain "XX@hlzrkj.xyz​". Apply fapiao when purchasing a ticket, by inputting the Chinese entity name and tax ID (if the title is wrong, you will be unable to receive the Fapaio). E-Fapiao will be sent to your e-mail within 7 days after completed event (check spam folder). If the fapiao can not be received, please provide an alternative email.
