On 25 Nov. 2026, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China and our member company: PSU are pleased to invite you to a timely seminar on one of the most complex compliance challenges facing European companies doing business in, purchasing from, or maintaining supply chains connected to China.

In April 2026, China introduced two new regulations, issued by State Council Decrees No. 834 and 835: one on industrial and supply chain security, and one countering the extraterritorial reach of foreign laws. Together, they add a new dimension to global compliance. At the same time, European companies face expanding obligations on forced labour transparency, human rights, environmental impact, sanctions, supply chain traceability, and responsible sourcing.

This raises a critical question:

What happens when a compliance measure required or expected under European legislation entails a potential legal risk when implemented in China?

The seminar will address the practical implications, including:

  • What PSU has observed in its own work in China since the new regulations were introduced
  • Conflicts between EU due diligence obligations and Chinese legislation
  • The uncertainty around supplier investigations and ESG assessments
  • Challenges for Chinese subsidiaries and local management
  • The risks of terminating Chinese suppliers for compliance reasons
  • Cross-border transfer of supplier, personnel, and supply chain information
  • Risks to employees and management in China—and how to manage them
  • Where China's own framework for responsible supply chains is heading
  • What still works in practice, and how to build a China-adapted compliance and escalation process

The discussion will also examine a key strategic question:

How can a company simultaneously comply with the laws governing its global operations and the laws governing its operations and supply chain in China?

Join us for a practical and forward-looking discussion on the intersection of European legislation and China's evolving supply chain security framework.
