Spending on R&D in China hit a new high in 2024, up 8.3 percent from the previous year, which ranked second in the world. Consultancy McKinsey and Co. said in a report that such a growth target will set the country on the path to becoming the world's largest spender on R&D.


For international businesses, while it is acknowledged that China has established formal S&T partnerships with 161 countries, challenges remain and need to be addressed, such as structural imbalances in R&D investment, talent gaps and shortages, IP and compliance risks, geopolitical barriers, financial and operational constraints so on and so forth.


To explore these opportunities and challenges, main orgainzed by China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), co-hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China &other chamber of commerce in Shanghai, togethercollaborating with the National Innovation Centre par Excellence to host a themed event on Thursday, 10 April, as part of the i10 Innovation Festival 2025.


This event is designed for multinational executives, R&D professionals, academics, startup founders, and anyone who wishes to gain a comprehensive understanding of China's innovation ecosystem and R&D dynamics, explore strategic partnership prospects, and foster knowledge exchange with sector counterparts.
