As China navigates domestic macroeconomic challenges— balancing structural realignment, consumption recovery, and industrial upgrading— its economic policy choices are sending ripples across global markets. Against the backdrop of recent EU–China trade tensions and the prospect of President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States in September, this closed-door roundtable will feature Dr. Robert Xiao, Beijing Director at The Economist Enterprise Corporate Network, The Economist Group. Robert will provide a comprehensive briefing on China's domestic economic and policy outlook, alongside research on EU–China economic relations, the implications of US–China relations for Europe, the comparative dynamics of the world's two largest economies, and the outlook for the US mid-term elections in November.
