The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China is excited to welcome you to our first community-driven inspirational talk for 2025. This new initiative, designed by and for young professionals, highlights fascinating personal journeys and life experiences.
In our inaugural session, we'll delve into Tantan's origins to reveal the secrets behind its rapid success, explore how China's internet entrepreneurship scene has evolved since Tantan's early days, and catch a glimpse of what Yu Wang, the app's co-founder and former CEO, has been up to since moving on from Tantan. We look forward to an evening of shared insights and inspiration.
Background:
In 2014, Swedish-Chinese entrepreneurs Yu Wang and Sophia Pan set out to revolutionize online dating in China by founding Tantan. The two first met as students in Stockholm, sharing a vision that would lead Tantan to become the nation's leading dating app, facilitating over 10 billion matches. This remarkable journey caught the attention of Chinese social media giant Momo (NASDAQ: Momo Inc), which acquired Tantan in the second quarter of 2018 for USD 735 million in cash and a stock swap.
